Our Farm, Our Table and You!
Come see where the Farm Meets Table. In Italian, “i giardini” means the gardens. The name reflects our focus on fresh ingredients as the basis of everything we serve. We start with produce and herbs from our own organic gardens, and then source everything else from carefully selected local and regional, all natural and organic sources. Our Italian ancestors have taught us to always celebrate the freshest ingredients, simple, delicious meals, and a love of sharing it all with family and friends. Tutti mangiamo bene! (Let's all eat well)
The founders of Giardini Trattoria, Joe Laudisio and Mary Lyth, have always been believers in the Italian tradition of fresh, simple, seasonal food. Having traveled on a regular basis to various regions of Italy has reinforced Joe's memories of learning about food and authentic Italian cooking from his grandmothers back in Buffalo, NY. Joe and Mary both retired early from corporate jobs and first moved to Hilton Head Island where they owned their first restaurant. When they sold that business and moved to the Foothills of NC, they still longed to create a restaurant that would represent their strong beliefs in the importance of fresh, seasonal, local ingredients to the quality of the cuisine as well as the health benefits derived from a regular diet of clean, Real food. When they found this property for sale with a one acre organic garden already in place, they knew they had found a home for their dream.
The restaurant in the little yellow house along with the gardens and greenhouse, has grown and expanded over the years and now includes a timber framed on-site catering pavilion as well as a separate retail market called fresca! You'll always find them on site and ready to share a story and help you to enjoy your dining experience.
